"... I’m interested in the recent history of the Arts in Dawson and what that means for economic development of the town. In researching for this paper, I’ve spoken with many of you about this stuff, and I hope not too much of it is a repeat. The guiding question of my residency and time in Dawson has been What does Gentrification look like in Dawson? How has art played into this process? This image, taken from Google Maps shows a drawing on the landscape created by the mining industry in the area.  

One of the things I love about Art is its self-reflexive quality. And since the arts in Dawson are indisputably an industry of sorts, fully understanding the industry’s impact on the social, physical and economic landscapes is, I believe, essential to taking ownership of those effects..."
